   The following list was compiled by the MacArthur High School counselors
   and is in order below by Deadline:

DEADLINES are the last possible day accepted - APPLY EARLY!

  1. Texas Tech Alumni Association – for students planning on attending Texas Tech in the fall.  Based on academic achievement, honors, activities and to some degree, financial need.  Applications are online at www.dallastechsan.org and in the Counseling Office.  Deadline: 4/9/08.

  2. Akin Ayodele’s Michael Tillman Memorial Scholarship(s) – for Mac seniors that have overcome some adversity or hardship and participate in a varsity sport or extra-curricular activity.  Apply online at www.akinayodele.net.  Deadline:  4/11/08.

  3. Dr. Bob Pierce Memorial Scholarship/Irving Friendship Foundation - To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be a graduating high school senior in the spring of the current year.  Student must have outstanding achievement in Academics and leadership and participation in school and community organizations.  Deadline:  4/11/08.

  4. Irving All-Sports Association Scholarship - scholarships in the amount of $500, $750, and $1000 to students who have participated in an IASA member organization (most city youth leagues—list attached to application); number of years participating in an IASA member organization, financial need, academic achievements and school and community activities considered.  Deadline:  4/15/08.

  5. Texas Amateur Athletic Federation- Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Student, Athlete, & Employee Scholarship - educational assistance to graduating seniors who will be pursuing a degree program which will prepare them for a career in the parks and recreation profession (i.e., sports sciences, kinesiology, physical education, recreation and tourism management); must be accepted to an accredited college or university in Texas, rank in top quarter of class and have at least a 2.5 on 4.00 scale, and a minimum SAT score of 850 or ACT of 21.  Deadline:  4/15/08. 

  6. Pilot Club of Dallas – for students that have been involved in volunteer activities.  Must have at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  Applications are in the Counseling Office.  Deadline:  4/18/08.

  7. The Goss-Michael Foundation art contest in April – Come by the Counseling Office or go online to get more info at info@gossmichaelfoundation.org.  That deadline is 4/19/08.

  8. Student-View Scholarship Program - is offering $8,000 worth of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college, community/junior College or career school.  To apply go to:  www.student-view.com .  Scholarship will be awarded via random drawing.  Deadline:  4/22/08. 

  9. Texas Tennis and Education Foundation – for students that have an interest in tennis and have a desire to obtain higher education but are in need of financial aid to do so.  Come by the Counseling Office for more information.  Apply online at www.texastennisfoundation.com.  Deadline:  4/22/08.

  10. B.E.L.I.E.F. Foundation - The BELIEF Foundation is interested in helping those students who are highly motivated to continue their education beyond high school and would not have an opportunity due to low or very limited economic resources I their families.  This is a $5,000 renewable scholarship.  Consideration is given to financial need, leadership characteristics, career/education aspirations, school and community participation, work experience, recommendation of a teacher or reference, past academic performance, personal statements. Deadline:  4/30/08.

  11. Future African American Leaders of Economic Influence (FAALEI) – for an African-American student that has shown leadership potential.  Applications are in the Counseling Office and online at www.ipcinitiative.org.  Deadline:  4/30/08.

  12. The Penrose Foundation – for Hispanic students with a financial need.  Applications are in the Counseling Office.  Deadline:  5/1/08.

  13. Al’s Formal Wear – applications are in their stores.  For complete scholarship rules, visit www.alsformalwear.com.  Deadline 5/5/08.

  14. KSCPP Essay Contest – read the book (there is an electronic version) Fifty Wonders of Korea, Vol 1 – Culture and Art, then choose from one of two topics and write your essay.  Details are in the Counseling Office and online at kscppcontest@msn.com.  Deadline:  5/11/08.

  15. Chi Rho Foundation, Chris Hernandez Memorial – for students planning on attending Texas Tech that are actively involved in their local Catholic Community.  Applications are online at www.chirho.org and in the Counseling Office.  Deadline:  6/14/08.

  16. Chi Rho Foundation, Father Tito Sammut Scholarship – must plan to attend a College, University or seminary in a major study of Catholic Theology or preparation for a religious vocation (Priesthood, Sister, Brother …).  The student must be actively involved in charity or service in their community.  Applications are online at www.chirho.org and in the Counseling Office.  Deadline:  6/14/08.

  17. Tex Schramm Freshman Scholarship, Phi Kappa Psi, University of Texas – for young men planning on attending UT that have strong academic achievements, extracurricular activities, community service and leadership ability.  Applications are in the Counseling Office or online at www.utphipsi.com.  Deadline:  6/15/08.           

  18. Texas Tech University – has scholarships for first generation college students- those are students whose parents do not have bachelor degrees.  Apply online at www.admissions.ttu.edu/fgcaward.  No deadline listed.
