Junior Class Officer Candidates

  President

Caitlin Cowart

Hello current sophomores. For those of you who do not know me, my name is Caitlin Cowart and I am running for class president.  I believe I am a good candidate to represent our class. I believe that MacArthur is a great high school to attend and I consider myself lucky. However, just like everything in life, there is always room for improvement. I am more than ready to make those improvements. I will work as hard as it takes to make our years here the best they can be. Too often, I hear students expressing a concern for the lack of extracurricular activities. Rather than complain about who is responsible and not doing anything productive about it, I will vouch for change rather than pointless complaints.  I have many qualities that make me a good candidate. I am a solid student. I work very well under pressure and can deal with the stresses and responsibilities that the job of class president entails. I fill responsibilities that need to be filled, whether they are my job or not. I am a four year member of the Orchestra, which requires dedication and work. Just as I have committed to orchestra, I will commit fully to being your class president.  I am Caitlin Cowart. Vote for me as your class president.

Diane Ihezie

I want to ensure the future of the Class of 2010 with a great amount of money. In doing so the money will go to a sensational prom, while still making it affordable for everyone. In the upcoming year I want to make memories we won’t forget. Bringing us together as one. Some ideas might be to sell ribs instead of the same options we have every week, opening suggestions so we can take opinions of the general public etc. With this said, that’s why I want to be your 2010 Class President.

Jessica Mitchell

My name is Jessica Mitchell, and I am running for the President of our Junior Class. I feel I have great qualities that apply to this job. First of all, when I was President of NJHS at Travis Middle School, our 8th grade year, I was put through great obstacles that made me stronger as a leader. I conducted all of the meetings and events with little of the sponsor’s guidance due to his college tests taking up much of his time. Even without his full attention, I was able to pursue raising money for NJHS activities and helping to aid the elderly in our community by orchestrating a holiday blanket-making event. Secondly, as Sophomore Class Secretary this year, I helped our class to raise over $2,000 toward our senior prom with such projects as the sophomore class t-shirt sales, Chick-Fil-A breakfast sales, as well as, selling Lolli-Grams and Bear Grams for Valentine’s Day. With being involved in MacArthur golf, art and photography programs, my interests are varied; therefore, I am devoted to help all of us make the Class of 2010 the best yet. In being president of our junior class, I hope to create more opportunities for all of us to become involved in our school, and raise funds so we may have the perfect prom in which we hope to have. Be a part of making your school a better place to attend and your memories lasting ones.  Please cast your vote on Friday, April 11th for: JESSICA MITCHELL, Junior Class President.

  Vice President

Dolly Oyebadejo

MacArthur Cardinals, I, Dolly Oyebadejo, would like to be your Junior Class of 2010 Vice President. School isn’t thought to be an exciting place, but I want to see if I can change that for you. The largest matter on students’ minds is prom. I would make it affordable for everyone, but still nice and classy, because I think prom is a memory that every student deserves to have. To accomplish an affordable prom, I would work with the student body for successful fundraising opportunities. I, myself, already have some fantastic ideas, even for things outside of prom. Cardinals, there’s so much in store for us… let’s enjoy and cherish our high school years together.

Lauren Bachand

My name is Lauren Bachand and I'm running for Junior Class Vice President. I am organized, a hard worker, in AP classes, and on the swim team. I am also involved in Journalism and Photography. I am ready to make positive changes in the school by setting a good example and by making my ideas heard. If I am Vice President, I will work hard to raise money for prom, improve school spirit, and help make this 2010 class the best ever. Vote for Lauren Bachand on Friday at lunch!

  Secretary

Danielle Candelaria

I’m Danielle Candelaria and I want to be your secretary. I’m not here to promise you stuff I cant uphold to, but here to tell you I will try my hardest to help our class be the best class it can possibly be. I will help plan fundraising events to go towards our senior prom, to create a memorable, yet inexpensive night. I want to sell more meals beside chick-fila, create more class shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, etc. I want to hear what our student body wants and try to get us to that point. I want to be class of 2010’s voice. Vote me, Danielle Candelaria, class of 2010 secretary.

Monica Ramirez

To be a leader is something of commitment and motivation. I could be a good secretary because, for one, I almost always make all appointments that I have ever been given. For instance, I have not missed one day of school for almost 3 years now. The only ones I miss are basically due to the conflict of another meeting or activity. I do community service to help out the people around me and I record it to turn it into the counselors for an early start for getting at least 100 hours by my senior year. Also, I attempt to get people involved in my activities such as ICT, Rec. Classes (mostly for the summer), the Irving Central Library Anime Club, and anything else that comes up on my schedule. Additionally, I have helped out people individually, such as with math assignments and even some personal advice. For me to be elected secretary will test my skills and tactics for holding a position stronger than when I was a senator this year.

  Treasurer

Lori Amerson

Hi, My name is Lori Amerson, and I wish to be the 2010 class treasurer.   If you vote me I will do every single thing that's possible to make are year and prom special.

Ryan Poynter

Hi, my name is Ryan Poynter and I am running for treasurer for Class of 2010, the next best and great junior class. I will make every dollar count that we raise as a class through our fundraising activities, such as Valentine-grams, food sales, car washes, sponsorships, etc. My goal, as your treasurer, is to make good use of the money we raise for our class. With that money, we will be able to have great senior year events such as prom, after prom, and our senior ring. I will make the necessary deposits when needed and keep our class up to date with correct financial statements. I will listen to your requests and interests toward our class.  Being a sophomore on the Junior Varsity Basketball team, playing two years on the Varsity Boy’s Golf team and an Eagle Scout candidate has had positive effects on my success as a MacArthur Cardinal. My peers know me as being honest, loyal, responsible, and on time. When it comes to counting money and making every dollar count:  Make your “Poynt” and vote for Ryan Poynter for Class of 2010 Treasurer.

Christina Jarboe

I’m Christina Jarboe and I’m running for treasurer for our 2010 student class. I would be honored to represent our junior class and help make sure we are the best of the best. I will help make sure our class raises enough money to have the best prom that we deserve. Last year as our class Vice President, I helped in fundraising activities to raise over $2,000 dollars for our class. I work very well with others and have great ideas in which would help to increase our savings. To sum this up, I would like to say, Vote Christina Jarboe for your treasurer!

  Reporter

Taylor Deupree

In every situation we find ourselves in, we look for a leader. When there is no leader one must step up and I, Taylor Deupree, am that person. I am running for the class officer position of Junior Reporter so that I may help make waves in the student life here at Mac Arthur. I plan to help students get involved in the class fundraisers and other student activities by utilizing my position as reporter. I am very goal oriented, motivated, and give my all into the task at hand. I am involved in student activities such as cheerleading and yearbook, and do other student activities when I am able. I would like the students of the junior class to vote me as Junior Reporter because I am the best for the job and I have what it takes to make a real difference our crucial Junior Year. Thank you.  J
