Student Council Officer Elections

Student Council Officer Elections will be taking place on Friday, March 28 in the cafeteria during all lunches.  The office of Corresponding Secretary is the only opposed position on which the student body will vote.  Below are the speeches and pictures of all the candidates.

President

Sara Winn

I'm Sara Winn and I am running for Student Council President for the 08-09 school year.  I have had a lot of experience, being the '09 Class president for the past three years, and being involved in Student council since freshman year, so I am well qualified to run our Student Council program next year.  With over 150 hours of community service through not only Student Council, but NHS, church, and other city functions, I am a well rounded person and feel I am your best choice for President.  I promise to work to the best of my ability and put the necessary effort to making a Student Council Program that makes a difference in our school and community. Vote for me, Sara Winn, on Friday the 28th for next years Student Council President. Thank you!

Vice President

Taeler DeHaes

Hi, I’m Taeler De Haes and I’m running for Student Council Vice President. I am a natural born leader. This will be my second year elected for this appointed position; therefore, I have the well deserved experience needed to take charge and make a stand here at Mac Arthur. I have intelligence, experience, integrity, and outward encouragement. I am open to new ideas and always honest. I listen and I hear. I talk and I walk. I am a firm believer in democracy; thus, I believe that every voice counts. I want change. I want to bring back past traditions. I want to help those who are willing to make a difference. Let me be the voice of our student body. If you want to see significant changes for the better of our students, let me know. Every student of every heritage and every gender needs to let their voice be heard. I will act on what you say. I will induce change. It is time that we voice ourselves. Our opinions matter most. We attend this school. We make the grades. We earn our school recognition. We, Mac Arthur, can do this.

Corresponding Secretary Candidates

Paula Ikpatt

To be a leader, you have to have influence, be dedicated, smart and imaginative. I’m sure I’m that kind of person, and as a StuCo officer, I will put my skills to use. Being a secretary is more than just taking notes. A secretary has as much input in our school as the President. I know this because I’m the current junior class secretary and I’ve been in StuCo for two years. I have what it takes to be a leader and that is why you should vote for me, Paula Ikpatt, as StuCo Corresponding secretary.

Huda Hassan

Let me start off by saying my name is Huda Hassan and I’m running for student council corresponding secretary. I’m part of the graduating year of 2011. Ever since I was little I always thought high school was supposed to be the best 4 years for your life. I’ve just began them and it’s started off a little rocky. I don’t want to look back and say high school was good, I want to say it was an amazing experience. So if becoming secretary will make even the slightest change than im going to run and hopefully win.  I want to be apart of the changes at MAC.

Megan Farrar

My name is Megan Hailey Farrar and I’m running to be your Corresponding Secretary for next year. The title I am running for may seem a bit vague, but Corresponding Secretary’s duties, such as keeping records and recording information and ideas that will lead to a more successful school year. I’m efficient, remarkably responsible, and dependable and I think that these qualities make me perfect for the position I am running for. I’m open to a broad spectrum of ideas and I believe I will contribute very much to the flow of creative thought and ideas in student council. Support me as a candidate for Corresponding Secretary if you support creativity and open thinking within your student government.
