Senior Class Officer Candidates

  President

Amy Boone

When I began thinking about what it would be like to be the Senior Class President, I really didn't know what to expect.  I did soon realize that, even though it sounded nice and looked good, it isn't the title that makes it important.  What does make it important is the fact that I know I can get things done the way our senior class wants to get things done.  To make it short and sweet, I believe 08-09 should be all about you.  I am Amy Boone and I'm running for president of the Senior Class of 08-09.  When you think about your last year in high school, what will you remember the most?  Whatever it is that you hold most memorable, I will make sure that it happens and happens smoothly and correctly for you. I envision 2009 as a memorable and exciting year full of fun and memories – and of course our senior prom.  Currently, we do not have the sufficient amount of money to fulfill our expectations.  But we do earn most of our money during our senior year.  I am dedicated to the responsibilities and jobs as being president that will change our current situation and help us to have a profitable and enjoyable senior year.  I have had previous experience with homecoming preparations and other organized events.  I also have great rapport with administrations which will come in handy during our senior year.  As president, I will put forth my best effort to get things approved and working fast.  I want this to be a fun and exciting year just as much as every one of you does, but I can’t do it by myself.  Remember I don’t want to be your class leader but I want you to have a fun and an awesome senior year.  By electing me Senior Class President you are putting some one in office that is going to take your suggestions, your ideas, and your interests and put them into action, not just do everything that a minority of the seniors wants to do.  I will work to accommodate everyone’s ideas and opinions as President of the Senior Class.  So, as you vote for Senior Class President of 2009 – keep this in mind:  Remember, it’s all about YOU, it’s all about us and it’s all about 08-09! If you want it to be about YOU; choose Amy Boone 2009 Senior Class President “If you vote for Amy Boone, you’re voting for what you want.”

Danielle Whitmore

Last year, as a junior class officer, I really enjoyed knowing that I made a direct impact on the progression of our class towards our senior year. This year I would like to make an even greater impact by becoming your senior class president. I’ve come to realize that by just changing a few small things, a huge, positive difference can be made. Firstly, I believe that no matter where an officer goes, they should carry themselves as a representative of their school and class, and should be held accountable for their actions outside of school. I strive to put my best foot forward wherever I go because I am proud to be a MacArthur High School student, and it is this attitude that will get our class and our school well earned recognition. Secondly, I will make sure that I listen to everything that you tell me about our class, and that your comments are voiced among the other officers. I will also make sure to reiterate any guaranteed decisions and changes about our class back to you, my fellow classmates. I think it is very important that you know all that is going on. Lastly, I think we should have open class meetings periodically through the school year so that those others than officers are able to voice their opinions as well. These decisions and changes affect the whole class, and should largely be based on the needs and great suggestions of the class. I believe that the abilities to listen, to organize, to influence and relate to other people and situations are behaviors that reflect a good leader, and are qualities that I possess. I will use these qualities to voice and implement the changes necessary to make our last year at MacArthur the greatest one yet!

Esteban Silva

The notion of equality has been vastly overestimated in our lives and strangely enough in our schools. We take for granted the idea, assuming that we are all given the same equal opportunities, entitled to the same rights, and following the same rules, but I am here to tell you that that is unfortunately far from the truth. I see a problem in this situation that we can rectify as a student body. I see a positive future, one in which everyone is equally represented and an era of good citizenship and prosperity thrives through the halls of Macarthur. My name is Esteban Silva, and I'm here to revolutionize* the way you think of your president.

  Vice President

Bethany Maynard

I’m Bethany Maynard and I am running for our Senior Class Vice-President. I would like to be your Vice-President because I really want to raise as much money as possible for our Prom. I have been a class officer for the past two years and would like to move forward and become Vice-President. I will better our grade and help us to have the best prom this school has ever seen.

KeKe Ransfer

Hi my name is Keke Ransfer and I am running for the class of 2009 Vice-President. Throughout the process of finding student and teacher supporters, one question has numerously been asked, “What can I do as vice-president that the other candidates can’t?” My answer to that is very simple, NOTHING! All of the candidates can do the same things, just in different ways. The thing that separates me from the other candidates is my ambition.  I can’t assure the class of 2009 that they will dominate the school and every rule they feel is unnecessary will be changed, but I can assure them that our senior year will be one they will never forget. As a member of Student Council, MacArthur Choir, PALS, Big Brother Big Sister, The Dallas Academy of Black Arts and Letters Youth Chorus, MacArthur Band TA Intern, and a Teen Court attorney, I know what being a leader is all about as well as the responsibilities that come along with it. That’s why I am asking you to vote for me on Election Day as vice-president, because knowing that I will take part in making our senior year so spectacular, I will strive to do all I can. I will listen to my fellow class mates and their opinions on what they feel our class should do to help raise money for education opportunity’s involving colleges, our prom, and raising money in general for the class of 2009.  I will try in the best way possible to get approved fundraisers that our class will be excited to take part in, ones that aren’t “the usual”; something new and outside of the box. I will stay determined until the last minute of every school day, I will stay committed to my duties, I will keep a positive attitude, but most importantly I will work hard alongside the president to help come to a compromise with the students, and principals on issues that seem a little shabby, or there is always a hassle about. So once again, help me to help you have and enjoy the senior year you’ve always wanted by voting Keke Ransfer for the class of 2009 Vice-President.
