SUMMER ACTIVITY FAIR

The Gifted and Talented Associations in Hurst-Euless-Bedford, Birdville, and Keller ISD are joining together to sponsor a Summer Activity Fair presenting summer opportunities for elementary and secondary students.

Saturday, January 26, 2008
9:00 am – 12:00 pm
(Come-and-go Event)

BISD Fine Arts/Athletics Complex
9200 Mid-Cities Blvd., N. Richland Hills
(same as BISD Stadium)  Get Map
Rooms A & B

For:  ALL students and parents in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area

Room A:  There will be over a dozen different booths representing a variety of educational and artistic summer camps in the area (see list below).  Although the gifted and talented associations sponsor this event, MOST of the camps are open to the general public.  Some of the camps offer scholarships based upon financial need.

Room B:  Find out about Summer Scholarships!  The Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented (TAGT) offers summer scholarships for Texas students in grades K – 12, who have been identified as gifted and talented, for the purpose of attending academic or artistic programs during the summer.  The application process involves a handwritten response from the student, a parent recommendation letter, and two other professional recommendation letters.  Three different readers score the applications holistically.  The scholarships, awarded based on the merit of the application (not by financial need), are given in amounts up to $400.  We will have seminars at 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 11:00 a.m.  A Spanish translator will be available at the 11:00 am scholarship seminar.
