March 30th
Kerilyn Ngom -- Speech, English IV, ELA SWAGGER

Keri is responsible in part for the huge success of ELA SWAGGER to prepare our kids for TAKS.  She is passionate about what she does and her students know she cares about them.  Thank you Keri for being so compassionate and for all you do.

February 20th
Blaine Mountain -- English IV, SWAGGER creator
This week’s COW is very involved in what’s happening on campus.  He is solely responsible for coming up with our whole idea of SWAGGER.  Congratulations to Mr. Blaine Mountain, English IV teacher!  He gets our kids pumped up for TAKS and he volunteers for many things.  Besides all of this, he is a great teacher. Just ask one of his students!  Congratulations, Blaine, our Cardinal Of the Week!!!

February 13th
Paula D'Spain -- Graduation Coach

The COW for Friday, Feb. 13, is Mrs. Paula D’Spain, our graduation coach. Mrs. D’Spain has been at MAC for 5 years and taught history here before becoming our graduation coach.  She works very hard to make sure our senior re-testers are not falling through the cracks, to make sure students are provided opportunities to look for scholarships, and to assist with many of our programs on campus.    Congratulations, Mrs. D’Spain, Cardinal Of the Week!!!
Thanks a million to our friends at Las Colinas Chick fil A; we couldn’t do this without having a great partnership with you!

Michael D'SPain -- Choir Director

Please join the Mac Admin team in congratulating our COW this week, our multi-talented, rockin' choir director, Mr. Michael D'Spain. When Michael became a MacArthur Cardinal six years ago, he took over a dying choir program and has since built our choir department up to be the best in the city!!! He is very helpful and accommodating both on campus and when asked to provide entertainment all across the district. Michael D'Spain, you ROCK!!!

Tiran Thompson -- Webmastering Instructor

Please join me in congratulating our COW of the week, Mr. Tiran Thompson.   Tiran is our Webmastering teacher.  Besides being an outstanding teacher, he is an excellent role model for kids.  Students in his classes are very fond of Mr. Thompson.  He attends many of their events, sports and otherwise to show his support.  What a great addition to our staff he is!   Congratulations Mr. Thompson, and thanks to our friends at Las Colinas Chick fil A for making this happen every week!  We love them.

Kathy Minturn -- Counseling Office Secretary

Please congratulate our COW of the week, Mrs. Kathy Minturn!  Kathy does a great job running the counseling office where she has worked for several years.  She is a vital part of the department and MacArthur High School.  We appreciate her work ethic and the many hours she works at school getting ready for school to open in August, close in June, and everything in between!  Congratulations Kathy.  And a big THANK YOU to our friends at Las Colinas Chick fil A!!!

Please join the admin staff in congratulating our COW this week.  Dana Pritchett very capably made sure some of our kids were taken care of while their own teacher was out for a lengthy illness.  She has a great attitude and always makes decisions based on what is best for kids.  Congratulations, Ms. Pritchett, our Cardinal of the Week.

Angela Vail - MacArthur Receptionist

Congratulations to our last COW of the week for 2008!!!  Angela Vail, our Girl Friday Receptionist, (and girl Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, too!) is our very deserving Cardinal of the Week.  Angela has been at MAC answering the phone for many years and she still answers the phone with a happy voice!!!  She takes care of all of us and our messages, deliveries, and special problems. 
We want to extend a very special thank you to our friends and supporters at North MacArthur Chick fil A.  Not only do they help us honor a staff member every week, but today they sent their Chick fil A Cow to help Santa with Project Adoption.  All of our visiting elementary students received goodies from Chick fil A to help complete their holiday surprises from MacArthur.

James Engler -
Honors/GT Chemistry teacher
Please congratulate our COW of the week, Mr. James Englert, Honors/GT Chemistry teacher.  His students were 100% engaged today when we went to his room.  Besides doing a great job in the classroom with his students, Mr. Englert takes care of all of us by being our very own “copy room guy” who fills the machines, fixes the machines, talks to the machines and makes them work for us!!!  Thanks for all you do, James.

Erika Toney - Pre-AP World Geography Instructor,
Varsity Cheerleading Coach

Please join us in congratulating the MAC COW for this week!  Mrs. Erika Toney was met with huge applause upon this announcement in her Honors World Geography classroom today.  She is an outstanding teacher and also serves as the varsity cheer coach.  This is her third year at MAC.  Congratulations Coach Toney!!!

Gary Church - AP World History, AP Government, Economics Instructor
Please join us in congratulating our Cow of the week, Mr. Gary Church.  Gary teaches AP World History, World History and AP Government and Eco.  In addition, Mr. Church is a very visible staff member.  He is always on his duty, attends MAC events and even filled in with some of Mr. Evans’ duties after he retired. Gary is a vital part of our staff and a great teacher in the social studies department.  Congrats Gary!!

Ellen Jones - Math Instructor, MAC Advisory Coordinator
Please join us in congratulating our Chick fil A COW for this week.  Ellen Jones is in her second year as a math teacher at MAC.  Besides being a great addition to our math department, she has taken on the huge task of planning all of our advisory activities.  This is a really big job she has undertaken.  We really appreciate her hard work and long hours in this endeavor! Congratulations Ellen!

Spencer Price - Special Ed Instructional Aide
Please congratulate our COW of the week for last week.  He has been at MAC for two years.  This person is a "pitch in and help" kind of guy and always has a great smile on his face.  He is a bright spot on our team and we are lucky he has joined the Cardinals!  Well deserved!!!

This week’s recipients of the COW award are very deserving.  They spread their wings and fly everywhere here at Mac.  Since flying into MacArthur High School, our building has been safer and more secure.  Being on their feet all day is really tough, and I appreciate their hard work.  Can you guess who they are?  Thanks for coming to our rescue OFTEN!

Our COW this week is very deserving.  This teacher has transformed and rebuilt our ROTC program at MHS---talk about a motivator!!!!!   This person’s positive attitude is so contagious! We are lucky to have this newbie.

This week's award goes to Ursula Wright.
This teacher is a valuable member of our staff who works every night helping our kids play catch up to graduate.  This individual's presence in our halls is a force!!!Congrats to Ursula!!
