The Great Awakening was about the change in the ways of life through religion..

·          It dealt with the Protestants who wanted to bring back Calvinism and the fear of God during the 1730s-1770s .

·          The Great Awakening was part of a major movement happening in England, Scotland, and Germany.

The key points of the Great Awakening were as followed:

·          Brought forth the idea of the separation of church and state.

·          Cut across class barriers and taught that everyone was equal in the eyes of God

·          With the new atmosphere on equality, many opposed slavery.

 

Effects of the Great Awakening:

·          George Whitefield, became the first American Evangelist

·          People became closer to God through the daily aspects of life

Many could consider the Great Awakening the first step to uniting the colonies together.
