| Description: First I started off with the program, Fruity Loops (freeware), and I used it to make the beat, and then I exported it as a .wav file. After I did that, I wrote my lyrics on my cell phone and emailed them to myself on my yahoo email account. At first, I had to figure out how to use Audacity since it is the audio editing program we are provided with on our laptops. I didn’t think it was a very good program since I was used to using cubase. I learned that once I imported my beat, the program wouldn’t let me record my verses in mono – only in stereo – so I had to convert them to mono after I recorded them so they would sound right. Here are my steps: I used Audacity – music editing program and clicked project, import audio and imported the beat that I made in Fruity Loops. Then after that, I started to do my verses. I used an individual track in the project for each verse. I plugged a microphone into my laptop to record the song. Then after that I added ad-libs (hypes and parts that I may have missed when I said it the first time). After that I copied my hook (chorus) and my ad-libs and hypes that went with it and I put them at the end. Then after that I adjusted the volume on each track so the sound would match up with each other. Then I clicked “quick mix” and adjusted the pitch and the bass boost on each track. Then I clicked “quick mix” again and exported it as an mp3 file using the companion program Lame. I learned that Audacity is limited for audio mixing and recording. I want others to learn that rapping isn’t easy – it takes a lot of work to make one song. I spent probably about 12 hours to make this 2 minute song. I also want others to learn that Irving High is a good school. I moved from Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the beginning of this school year and now I feel like I am a part of Irving High – and that was my reason for writing this song. My bibliography and lyrics are in a separate document I sent with my song. | |

I normally do not like rap - but yours was very exciting and mostly understandable.
It might have been more effective if it had been shorter - but it was still within time constraints. |

I thought your song was great. It's great to see you're so excited about your new school and that you've felt welcomed and feel so positive about your education. I would have liked to be able to hear more of your voice in the song though as the melody was a bit overpowering. |

This entry has all the elements that make it a great project and a pleasure to listen to. The glue that holds it all together is your passion. You cared for the subject, for the words and the passion showed beginning to end. Thank you for demonstrating that hard work does pay off. You should be proud of this project and your work ethic. |
