Title: Road Not Taken

Category: digitized audio
Grade Level: 11-12
Description: I used Audacity to record my voice. I found my music at ccmixter.org. I chose this poem because Robert Frost is one of my favorite poets. He speaks from the heart. This poem reflects my view on life. I don't like to go with whatever anyone else thinks is cool. I learned from this project that you will get alot more joy out of life is you take the road less traveled. Frost, Robert. "The Road Not Taken." Concise Anthology of American Literature. Ed. George McMichael. New York : Macmillan Publishing Company, 1993. 1669-1689.

Audacity is a great program for this type of project as it allows for user creativity. I thought the speaker's pacing was excellent and I could hear him/her clearly. The music was softly muted in the background allowing the poem to shine. I did hear static at one point but it was minimal and did not detract from the overall presentation. I particularly like the music choice and the increased loudness of the lyrics at the end "I know who I am" which I feel conveys the overall meaning of the poem. The poem was an excellent choice for this age (high achool) and the search for self. I appreciate the co-curricular tie-in of Language Arts and Music. This would be a great lesson plan for a Poetry unit. Excellent work!

Glad to see you using ccmixter.org - with Creative Commons, you don't need to ask permission, but you still need to give credit to musician/artist.

This is a great project. The music and the poem go well together to complete a moving piece. I do feel that the music overpowers your voice at times and we don't get the full message.

Your voice is very clear during the reading. It might have been better to choose music without lyrics - it was difficult hearing the poem with the singer singing something else behind it.
