Description: I set aside time for myself, sat, and wrote the song in a matter of three or four hours. Afterwards, I sent my MIDI file of the project to Faisal who listened to it and felt that the first half of the solo was powerful, but the second half didn’t match up, so he went and wrote a new second half to the solo. As the project was saved in Guitar Pro tab format only, we met up and, using Faisal’s TASCAM soundcard within Garage Band software, we recorded the song. I recorded the rhythm guitar and bass parts, where Faisal recorded the lead guitar parts, including the solo. The drums I had written up in Guitar Pro were simply converted from MIDI to mp3. Technique wise, the guitars were the most challenging and fun to mess around with; we wanted the lead riff at the beginning to have an airy, almost space-like feeling, but not be too electronic, so when we found the perfect effect we were very excited. To finalize the project, we put it into Acoustica Mixcraft to mix the master volume and convert it to 320 kbps. We created this project because we both feel that music is one of the best ways to express one’s emotions and talents; after all, music is what your feelings sound like. We’re both very proud of ourselves for having been able to exert ourselves in this manner and create something like "Ecotropolis", and we’re really excited to see what other people think of it. We learned a lot about how music isn’t just sitting down with a guitar and strumming nonsense, singing words to imitate the “best bands of today.” Music is about originality and being able to express YOURSELF, not anyone else. We want people to see that we’re not trying to sound like anyone but ourselves, and that no one should have to live up to someone’s name that way – be your own musician, and individual.

This is an amazing composition. I think the mixing of the instruments of was very well done. I found a couple of small pacing issues, but overall an excellent piece.
