Irving ISD Technology Media Fair 2008-2009

Description: This is part of a song I’ve made a while back with my guitar (original was 7 min long). I recorded me playing the Rhythm Guitar part seperately, following the Drums in the background, and the Lead Guitar part last. I used 4 microphones in all for each part, and edited using Cool Edit Pro software I bought recently for song making. I created this entire project off an idea i had a long time ago for a song, and seeing the Media Fair was almost here, i decided to collaborate each instrument part into my own song/project, which i distinctly titled, Atlantis. I learned that the recording process is vigorous, and extremely hard, following the touch-ups done in the editing, takes a really long time to finalize the entire song. But all-in-all, it was really fun creating this and mastering it. I’m pretty proud of the outcome, and I hope others would be inspired to do these kinds of projects in the future as well.

I thought that this song was great. In some ways it reminded me of a Steve Vai or Eddie Van Halen guitar solo track. I did think that some of the song was off a little in terms of beat and where the guitar was. Overall, it was a great track.

You are correct- the process is difficult and requires lots of attention to detail. I like the ending where you were able to coordinate the two guitar melodies. Keep working at it and you will find it easier.

What a talent you are! You seem to have found your calling. Not only do you play your own instruments, you recorded separately and combined the tracks for the finished product. You should be proud for starting this project, and finishing it, and the hard work you put into it. Hard work does pay off. Well done.

The song has good balance between instruments. It could be used for a movie soundtrack. Next time you might check your entry description for capitalization errors.
