Title: The song "Thanksgiving Supper"

Category: digitized audio
Grade Level: 2-3
Description: We were learning about Thanksgiving and practicing our reading fluency. My teacher taught us to sing the song: “Thanksgiving Super”. We sing one verse in Vietnamese and the rest of the song are original verses from the IISD ESL curriculum guide. She used Audacity to record our voices and then let us know our levels of reading fluency. It was encouraging for us to create this project by using Audacity from my teacher’s laptop. We used Audacity to record our voices, then listened back to know how fluently we read. After learning how to use Audacity, we would like others to use this program to help them recognize their reading fluency. Jennifer Nguyen, Johnny Diep, Tien Lu Third graders, J. O. Schulze Elem. You are a tad too close to the mic. Maybe wear a headset to capture just your voice or a desktop to capture all the singers. Maybe adding just the first stanza of this song with no words at the beginning and at the end would enhance your singing ? Remember not to put full names of anyone under 18 online.

I enjoyed your singing and enthusiasm. It would be better if you had added sound effects or background music.

This was a very fun song to listen too. I enjoyed that it was done in both Vietnamese and English both. Having the other students in the background also added a nice touch.

I think Audacity is an excellent tool to help kids listen to themselves and to help understand what they are saying or reading. I liked the fact that this was presented in Vietnamese as well as English. Perhaps the next entry you could play with sound or creative effects integrated with your project. Good job everyone -- you are so encouraging with your enthusiasm -- well done!!
