Title: The Buttins Gig Poster- Banuelos, Ramirez

Category: product design
Grade Level: 9-10
Description: When we made this poster, we started by trying to figure out how we wanted to show visually the essence of Indie Rock, and since indie rock is hard to describe in words we tried to represent our interpretation of it visually. And although we based this on more mellow songs we thing it says “(mellow) Indie Rock”. The Indie rock sound is of bands such as The Strokes, Radiohead, Interpol, The Bravery, Death Cab for Cutie and others. The Buttins are a made up band. We were inspired by the music. For this project we used Adobe Illustrator. We made a light brown base background (we thought we’d use brown because it seemed to be a mellow color), and placed many small brown circles all around, we then put smaller circles in the circles in order for them to look like Buttons. After that we added the “venue” were the event would be held the date and the time and the Venues in formation. We then added a gray rising “button” with a n opacity of 30, this way it made the poster seem more calm and a little less brown. . We also placed a cropped picture of a robot made by a Zuleyma’s Brother , we took the out line of the robot and colored in our own robot by adding small things like a circles and lines to make it look better, we then Live Traced it in color and , then made it brown. Then we were done.

The thought process and the techniques you used were excellent. Next time, I would suggest making the venue information bigger and bolder. If the purpose of the poster is to advertize the concert, that information needs to be less hidden within the design. Not sure if you intended to misspell "Buttons" , but it would have made more sense if it had been spelled correctly. Using the circles for the buttons was a great idea. I would suggest having a teacher help you proofread your explanation and correct your spelling errors.
