Nimitz High
School Community
Nimitz High School offers a myriad of Viking clubs and activities, creating
a sense of camaraderie among students and adult sponsors. This
participation in the Viking community encourages school spirit and
engenders involvement in the greater Irving community; students extend
their pride from self to school and city. Local businesses and
organizations show reciprocal support, completing a cycle of aid and
appreciation between Nimitz groups and their supporters. This
cooperation propels the growth of character and charity in Nimitz
students. “I feel like our school promotes a sense of selflessness,”
remarks Anthony H. “It makes us want to give back to our community
instead of just helping out of obligation.” The pillars of parents,
students, staff and the connected community buttress the building of the
Nimitz High School experience.
Community Outreach
The Junior Historians of Nimitz remains renowned throughout the city,
extending humble attitudes and gracious assistance to a variety of
community causes. Directed by Ms. Bradley, members of the Junior
Historians assist in a variety of weekly and monthly events, most
notably in activities like on-campus recycling and the feeding of the
homeless at the Union Gospel Mission in Dallas. Annual events such as
the Trinity Trash Bash and the decorating of Scottish Rite Hospital
profit from the contributions of Nimitz students who exemplify the
Viking servant-spirit.
Nimitz Community Prepares For Future
The relentless support of Irving’s community bolsters the studious
spirit of Nimitz High School. As Nimitz Vikings prepare for the future,
community sponsors provide the funds and advertising to keep those
dreams within reach and school pride intact. With gracious donations and
unending support, local businesses and organizations prove the
importance of the upcoming youth, actively taking part in the
improvement of their lives and their surrounding community.
