Natural Selection

Objective:  Students will understand the connection between evolution and natural selection using Gizmos.

Procedure:  Teacher will begin the lesson by explaining the concept of evolution and its connection to natural selection. Talk about extinction and what happens to species when they do not evolve. Have students research extinct animals to increase their interest in the subject before they begin this assignment. Students will use worksheet as they follow along with the Gizmo site. They will answer questions as they learn. Ask students to open the Natural Selection site and click on Launch Gizmo. Follow the directions on the worksheet to complete the assignment.
