Researching the 1930's - (3 week lesson)

Objective:  Students will complete research in the library and on the internet. They will produce bibliography cards, note cards, an outline, and a works cited page. Their final product will be a class newspaper about the 1930s.

Procedure:  

  1. Teach students how to write bibliography/note cards
  2. Students will research in the library, take notes on Zoho Notebook, and do bibliography cards on 3x5 cards
  3. Teach outlining skills to students.
  4. Students will complete an outline in Word (or another word processing program)
  5. Teach students how to cite works.
  6. Students will complete a Works Cited page in Word
  7. Students will create newspaper articles, dealing with the different topics in the 1930s.
  8. Students combine their articles in a document so that each class period will have completed a 1930s newspaper. of Africa
