Climograph Detective 

Objective:   Students will study climographs, learning how temperature and precipitation affect climate. They will use technology and given data to create climographs using a spreadsheet.  

Procedure:

  1.  Hand out the data sets to the students, or allow them to access it online.

  2.  Assign students one or two of the 38 data sets listed. The students will follow the directions for creating a climograph on a spreadsheet. You may show the presentation below to instruct students on how to create the climograph.

  3.  After creating the climograph, they will look at it and try to determine in which type of climate zone this climograph would be located. In a group, they can each share what their climograph looks like and discuss climate zone and possible cities. Teacher can share the correct answers with the students.
