The Pride of Nimitz High
Contemplation of Nimitz High School’s men’s athletics yields the true definition
of a champion. Nimitz athletes range in sports from the court to the gridiron.
Though perhaps not always the biggest or the best, they always give it their
all. These athletes put in more time off the field or off the court by
constantly hitting the weight room to be in top physical shape. More importantly
to the coaches, the Nimitz teams work hard not only to win but also to be
all-around great young men when they do leave high school.
The Sacred Cry of Nimitz High
At Nimitz the one true motto that we live by is that “hard
work beats talent if talent doesn’t work hard.” A true Viking is a person who
works hard no matter what and leaves it all out on the playing field. The story
of Nimitz is like that of David and Goliath; nobody gives us a chance. Tell that
to the young men who work their tail off every day of the week to prepare. Tell
that to the coaches who give it their all to field the best team possible. Tell
that to the Nimitz faithful who show their loyalty through thick and thin.
Faith Always Prevails
And in reality, all a team needs is faith. Faith can
overcome size and strength everyday. Our athletes here at Nimitz are all about
work ethic and pride. The strong group of young athletes at Nimitz not only set
the standard for our school but also our community. Whether it’s a skillful
backhand or a well timed touchdown, the boys at Nimitz give 100%, 100% of the
time, and this is what truly defines a champion. It’s not about the number of
wins you have at the end of the year or the amount of banners you have hanging
from the rafters; it’s about leaving it all out on the field. That is the true
Viking spirit. “See it, believe it, and achieve it!”
