A student wants to play a PPS or PPT file on their laptop but they
only have OpenOffice. When they open the PPS or PPT file with
OpenOffice it does not play the same as with PowerPoint.
PPS won't play without a viewer (it will try
to play it with OpenOffice Impress), but Microsoft has a free
viewer that you can install to play PPS and PPT files.
PowerPoint Viewer 2003 lets you view full-featured presentations
created in PowerPoint 97 and later versions.
