IISD Service Awards
A Service Awards Banquet was held on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Travis Middle School to honor employees with 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 years of service to the district.  Irving ISD wishes to honor the 305 employees with 4,485 years of service to the district.  Special thanks to all who have served so faithfully through the years!

The Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra welcomes Irving ISD staff, faculty and students to purchase tickets for $5.00 (family tickets can also be purchased at this price) ... This week come hear Daniel del Pino (pianist) who has already performed in all five continents. His performances have been heard in the most prestigious venues all over Europe, in Morocco, Jordan, Israel, Gabon, Japan, Taiwan, Brazil, Australia, and in the U.S.

Chipotle is having a Teacher Appreciation Day on Tuesday, May 6th, 2008.  Irving ISD faculty and staff can come in to any DFW area Chipotle, show their ID badge, and get free food!

All Forms of Zyrtec Available Over-the-Counter
We want to make you aware of an exciting program to help employees who are currently taking the medication, Zyrtec®.   Zyrtec will become available without a prescription on January 24, 2008.   This means your employees can buy the same 24 hour, full prescription strength Zyrtec products without a prescription in stores wherever over-the-counter products are sold.  As a result, Zyrtec will no longer be covered by their prescription benefits program, effective January 25, 2008.

DATE Stakeholder Meetings
A new state incentive program for school districts, named the District Awards for Teacher Excellence (DATE), has been created by the Texas Legislature to increase teacher performance and student achievement.  Sixty percent of the funds must go to reward teachers who demonstrate student achievement in their classrooms.  (The remaining 40% may be used for other staff, stipends, or other allowable activities.)  There will be three Stakeholder Meetings scheduled in January to explain the program and seek input...

Board Approves Salary Schedules
The Irving ISD Board of Trustees adopted the new salary schedules for the 2007-2008 school year at the July 16th board meeting.  These salary schedules are now posted on the Human Resources site.

Academy Craft Fair
The Academy of Irving is proud to present our 3rd Annual Academy Craft Fair on December 8th from 9am−4pm.  We have over 50 confirmed crafters and vendors.  Also Santa’s play land will be open the whole day for the kids play for two hours while parents shop.  Santa is dropping by from 10am−2pm to take pictures with the little ones!

$55,580 Paid for Exemplary Attendance
The Exemplary Attendance (EA) Program will award $55,580 to 60 IISD employees in their October paychecks. One hundred ninety-six District employees earned the minimum number of days (15) over the past five years to be eligible to “cash-in” some or all of their EA days during employment.  The sixty employees who took advantage of this opportunity will receive an average of $926.33 per employee.  The maximum benefit was

Bloodborne Pathogens on Blackboard

Kronos Check-In Procedures for Summer TBA Staff Development
KRONOS Check In Procedures for Instructional Paraprofessionals for 4 Exchange Days are as follows:  The November 19 and 20 exchange days must be for two days of District Provided Training taken prior to November 1.  For those not meeting the above requirement the Administration Building will host the two days of required training on November 19 and 20 since all campuses will be officially closed on the 19th and 20th.  Employees will be docked in their January paycheck for any days missed... Change in CourseWhere
CourseWhere will force you to update your personal information the next time you try to register for a staff development session.  A new line item called "Level" has been added to CourseWhere.  It is not an optional field so everyone will need to fill this in and it won't allow you to successfully register for staff development sessions without updating this field... Is Your Staff Development Record Up-to-Date?
All instructional paras and teachers will need 24 "06-07 Instructional Paid Day" credits (12 are Campus and 12 are District).   All IPD credit documentation MUST be in the district staff development office by May 1st , 2007, to avoid being docked.

Request to "Sell" Exemplary Attendance Days
According to the rules of the Exemplary Attendance Program, you can request to “sell” your Exemplary Attendance Days back to the Irving Independent School District.  (See page for rules and exemptions.) 

Due to the delay in processing this year, the deadline for requesting the selling of Exemplary Attendance days is being extended to Monday, October 9, 2006.  You can obtain a sell-back form using the link above.  We will also be sending you a form in school mail asking whether you would like to sell back your days or, if you have the accumulated 15 or more EA days to do so.

(August 1-31)  This summer’s Open Enrollment will have a brand new feature — Online Enrollment.  The informational meetings (like those we have had in the past) will also provide information and a demonstration of how to enroll for your benefits using the on-line MUNIS computer system.
