DigiGirlz High Tech Camp
Microsoft will be hosting the DigiGirlz High Tech Camp in Las Colinas (Irving) on August 12-14, 2008 Our mission is to introduce 9th-12th grade girls to the many career fields offered within the High Tech industry. This is an exciting two-day experience and it’s completely FREE of charge. You must submit a letter of recommendation from your teacher or counselor, or from a leader in your extracurricular or community organization in order to participate. Breakfast with the Stars
The Irving School Foundation will hold their 21st annual scholarship breakfast on May 5 at 7:00 a.m. in the ballroom of the Four Seasons Resort and Club in Las Colinas.  The 2007-2008 Breakfast with the Stars will feature WFAA news anchor, John McCaa, to present the awards to the students.

Stipes Elementary to Start NEW Breakfast Program
On Monday, March 31, Stipes will begin the Universal Breakfast program, under which all students eat breakfast for FREE!  Students at Stipes will still report to the cafeteria for breakfast and will still go through the cafeteria lines, but they will receive their breakfasts at no charge, regardless of their meal status (i.e. free, reduced-price, or paid).  Stipes becomes the fifth elementary school this school year to adopt the Universal Breakfast program.

A teacher job fair will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm (interviews could last until 3:30 pm).  Applicants should bring copies of their resume, current college transcripts, and teaching certificate or college letter of anticipated completion.  There will also be representatives from various alternative education programs.  School principals will be present to conduct interviews for the 2008-2009 school year!  (more)

The Irving ISD Tax Office will be open one day during Spring Break.  The Tax Office will be open Monday March 17, 2008 from 8 am to 5 pm and will be accessible from the front of the building at 2621 W. Airport Freeway.

Strawberry Meth: Drugs Being Marketed to Children
In our continuing efforts to inform parents and families about the dangers of illegal substances affecting our youth, Irving ISD is sending you another letter regarding drugs being marketed to children.  This letter is to inform you about a new form of crystal methamphetamine.  It is called Strawberry Meth or Strawberry Quick and it is also being sold to a younger population of children.  Strawberry flavoring is being added to methamphetamine to give it a strawberry candy look and flavor.  It also looks like the "Pop Rocks" candy that sizzle in your mouth.  In its current form, it is dark pink in color and has a strawberry scent to it.

The concert starts at 7:30 p.m.   The music will be quite varied and will keep the interest of the young and the "not-so-young" alike. This will not be a formal concert - no tuxedos on the stage; it will be a family event. Come as you are and enjoy the music!
