Ready, Set, GO ... IISD is Going Blue!

Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Texas was selected to be the new Third Party Administrator for the District’s Health Plan effective September 1, 2008.

Additionally, the Employee Benefit Committee transformed the plan designs available from three plans down to two with major enhancements to both options.

Base Plan

Improvements to the Base Plan include:

  • Lower In Patient and Out Patient Hospital copays

    • Inpatient- was $1500 now $500

    • Outpatient- was $200 now $100

  • Lower initial expenses for X-Ray and Lab Services

  • Lower out-of-pocket maximum

    • Individual – was $7,000 now $5,000

    • Family – was $14,000 now $10,000

Best News … No increase in premiums for this plan.

High Plan

Some of the significant changes to the High Plan (previously OAP) are: 

  • Lower Copays for Office and Specialist Visits

  • Lower Deductible and out-of-pocket maximum

  • Coinsurance of 80/20 versus 70/30 of other plans

  • Copays for Prescription Drugs versus coinsurance

Premiums for this plan will increase.

Open Enrollment 2008-2009 Benefits

Open Enrollment for the 2008-2009 school year will begin August 1, 2008.  All current employees will enroll via the Munis Employee Self Server (ESS) portal in August.  All New Hires must attend the New Hire Benefits Meeting on August 15th at 4:00 pm in the Nimitz HS Auditorium.
