Fingerprint Notification       FAQs       Substitutes     Help Accessing SBEC

Attention:  Teachers, Administrators, and Paraprofessionals

Do You Hold Certifications with SBEC?

As part of Senate Bill 9, at some point SBEC will come to IISD and fingerprint the employees in our district who have not already had this done as part of their hiring and/or certification.  (We have not been notified of that date as of yet.)  The district has, however, been informed of details by other districts that have already been though the process that will assist us when the time comes.

  • Make sure your SBEC account is up to date. (Click here to learn how.)  Go into your SBEC profile and correct the information if it is not accurate.   It is of utmost importance for the educator to check his/her SBEC account/profile to be sure that a current email address has been provided.  *

  • Your address should also be updated and the name on your SBEC account must match what is on your Drivers License.  You D.L. information is how they will pull everyone up in the DPS system for fingerprinting.

Districts will be notified prior to the fingerprinting implementation and then have only 80 days in which to fingerprint all employees.  Beginning day 81, anyone not fingerprinted who holds certification with SBEC and showing up on the district roster will have their certificate inactivated in SBEC until they do complete the fingerprinting.

 *   The virtual certificate found online is the official certificate record.  Effective April 1, 2009, hard copies of the certificate will no longer be automatically printed and mailed to the certificate holder after submitting a certificate application.  The certificate application will have a field where the individual may request a hard copy.  To print the virtual certificate, the individual can login to his/her SBEC account at www.sbec.state.tx.us by clicking on the “SBEC Online for Educators” link at the top of the home page, or click on the “Official Record of Educator Certificates” link also found at the top of the home page.

Also effective April 2009, educators who hold a standard certificate will receive a renewal reminder by email six (6) months prior to the certificate expiration date.
