This year marks the first year the ESL ARISE stipend will be paid for qualification met during the 2006‑2007 school year. Those who qualify for the ARISE stipend will be paid $1000 on the November check this year.

Qualifications are those who:

Hold ESL Supplemental Certification
Are a teacher of record in Reading, English, Math, Science or Social Studies
Attended the required 12 hours of ARISE staff development during the 2006-2007 school year

Phase I: 2006-2009

Group I	Group II	Group III
“Grandfathered” Group	ESL Certified Core Content Teachers *	Academic Support Teachers
All educators who received an ESL stipend in 2005-2006 and who are in a 2005-2006 eligible assignment in 2006-2007	Those in district with ESL supplement but not receiving a stipend; new hires for ESL assignments; and newly endorsed ESL teachers	Support teachers, ARI/AMI & Read-Right teachers, counselors, librarians, special education inclusion, etc
▪ Will receive stipend for class assignment in 2006-2007 according to 2005-2006 eligibility rules ▪ Are eligible for staff development ARISE sessions ▪ Upon completion of ARISE staff development sessions will receive training stipend in fall of 2007 ▪ Will continue to receive training stipend annually upon completion of ARISE staff development sessions	▪ Are eligible for ARISE staff development sessions ▪ Upon completion of ARISE sessions will receive training stipend in fall of 2007 for 2006-2007 training ▪ Will continue to receive training stipend annually upon completion of ARISE staff development sessions	▪ Will be considered in Phase II upon reviewing data, feedback and determining cost analysis

* Core Content Teachers will be defined as teachers of record who teach a reading, English, math, science, or social studies class.

NOTE: Secondary teachers who are the teacher of record for a sheltered or ESOL class will receive $1,000 in 2006-2007 and be eligible to acquire 12 hours of ESL training (ARISE) for fall 2007 supplement
