I can't download a report as an
Excel spreadsheet. What do i do?
We had some reports of
problems downloading exported ‘Excel’ reports out of the main reporting
system. What has been reported is that when a user select ‘Excel’ as
the output option and hits run report, the expected pop-up window will
appear. When the browser receives the ‘Excel’ file, users are reporting
that a warning at the top of the window says that Internet Explorer has
‘blocked’ the file. If you right-click and select ‘download file’, the
window will just return to a listing of the report filters and NOT the
expected Excel file.
As we could not
reproduce this issue under Firefox, it appears to be solely related to
recent Internet Explorer security updates and not anything with D2SC.
This is what I did to get my Excel option to work again.
1) I
selected ‘Tools’ and ‘Internet Options’ from the main IE screen. I then
changed to the Security tab as shown below. I clicked on the green
check mark for ‘Trusted Sites’ and made sure that
http://*.d2sc.com and
https://*.d2sc.com were listed as a trusted site.

2) I then clicked on the Custom Level button at the bottom of
Security tab and scrolled down the listing of the Security Settings
until I found 3 options under a heading called ‘Downloads’. Please make
sure that all 3 are ENABLED (Automatic prompting for file downloads,
File Download, and Font Download).
Click on the image below for full size
screen shot.

When I did this
(pressed OK to save) and restarted my Internet Explorer and tried
running a report, I now see the following INSTEAD of the warning about
IE blocking the download (you can click on Open to open in a window or
Save to save the file to your PC.
