LIFE MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION It’s time for your PTA’s to start taking nominations for Life Memberships. Announce it at your board meeting and also at the general meetings. Have forms available for anyone who has a nomination. Make sure to include parents and faculty, along with your board, when requesting nominations. There are 4 ways to honor your recipients. Texas Life Membership This is the most common and the first to be given to someone. National Life Membership This is especially an honor and is to be given after some has already received a Texas Life Membership Extended Service Award This is presented to someone who has been active in PTA for 10 years or longer. Recognition Brick This is usually given to someone who has all the above awards, but it is not necessary that they have them to receive a brick. The bricks are a great way to honor someone. They are at the PTA headquarters in Austin. You can find all the information, along with costs and forms at: www.txpta.org/members/awards Council PTA will hold a Life Membership Banquet on Friday, April 17th. It will be at Las Colinas Country Club. Your PTA may choose to have a reception at the meeting when you announce your recipients. Remember that those receiving the awards are recipients, not winners. Keep in mind that you do not have to give a certain number of Life memberships because that many were given in the past. This is a special award, so keep that in mind when making your choices. Check your by-laws for this information. This year’s theme is “Be a Hero”. Each school will be asked to provide your own centerpiece of your favorite hero. This is the 100th Birthday of Texas PTA, so that will be part of the night’s celebration. Names of your recipients, along with their award, and a photo for the power point, will need to be sent to me by April 1st. Reservations, along with payment, will be due by Friday, April 10th. Each school will be limited to 10 attendees. Remember these deadlines are firm, so please make sure to meet them.
