Membership Notes

  • New Membership Rates Effective July 1, 2011Regular Members:  Remit $4.50 per member to Texas PTA. Life Members: Remit $2.25 per member to Texas PTA to cover the national dues portion plus local PTA Portion as specified in bylaws.

  • Send a membership roster, Texas PTA Dues Report Form and state and national portions of dues to Texas PTA when collected by the Local PTA.
     
  • The state and national portion of dues are held in escrow by the Local PTA and should be submitted to Texas PTA within 5 business days.
     
  • Texas PTA submits the national portion of dues to National PTA.
     
  • An individual may join more than one PTA by paying the national, state and local portions for each association.
     
  • A minimum of 20 members is required to organize and to maintain an active status.
     
  • A Texas PTA Honorary Life Member is exempt from paying the state portion of their dues at one PTA of their choosing per Honorary Life Membership Award received.
     
  • The Local PTA does not have to pay the state portion of dues for Texas Life Members.
     
  • PTA membership rosters are not to be released to outside interest.
     
  • Children should not be used to sell PTA memberships!
     
  • Members should be recruited and reported year-round. Members who join after March 15 should still be reported immediately to Texas PTA and will be posted to the new membership reporting year.

 

Chairman Duties At-A-Glance

  1. Formulate a Plan of Work
  2. Recruit a committee
  3. Prepare a membership campaign
  4. Recruit members and collect dues
  5. Prepare appropriate forms
  6. Maintain accurate records for a procedure book
  7. Send dues and necessary forms to the state office
  8. Pass all pertinent materials to your successor on a timely basis
  9. Welcome new members and get them involved.

2011-2012 Membership Theme: Team Up!
 

  • Early Bird Award
    Presented to each local PTA that submits dues and membership list for 75% of its previous March 15 membership total. Postmark by September 30, 2011
     

  • MARS (Men are really super) Award
    Presented to all PTA's who recruit 50 or more men by the Fall Dues deadline (postmarked by October 15). Award form must be submitted.
     

  • Spring Membership Increase
    Presented to each local PTA whose fall membership total for this year met, or exceeded the membership total for the previous fall and who submitted dues and a membership roster for at least 25 additional members between the fall deadline (postmark by October 15) and the Spring deadline (Postmark March 15). No form to submit.
     

  • Golden Apple Award
    Presented to each local PTA that recruits 100% of school faculty. Faculty is : principals, assistant principals, teachers, counselors, and aides, employed at the campus full time. Award form must be submitted.
     

  • Individual Award
    Presented to any member who recruits 10 or more members. Award form must be submitted.
