Age Requirements

Age requirements to attend IISD elementary schools:

• Prekindergarten

Three or four years old on or before September 1

• Kindergarten

Five years old on or before September 1.

• First Grade

Six years old on or before September 1, or enrolled in the first grade, or completed kindergarten, in the public schools of another state prior to transferring to the District.

Students attend schools in the attendance area where their parents reside.  For information regarding which school a student should attend see our School Finder database or contact the closest school principal’s office or the Public Information Department at 972-215-5200.
