Length of assignment:
Students are usually
assigned to the RAC for twenty, thirty or extended year placements.
Placements are made by the home campus administrators. Students may
be able to earn an early release if they obtain their required points, have no
unexcused absences, complete their assignments in a timely manner, have no
discipline referrals and attend parent/student counseling on Tuesday nights.
Assignments/Class work: Students will receive their assignments from all their home
campus teachers. Assignments are graded by the home campus teachers.
Points: Students will be assigned a certain number of points while at the RAC. Students earn these points by coming to school, following all rules
both at school and on the bus, and staying on task on their assignments.
Bonus points may be earned at the discretion of the RAC teacher.
Discipline: Students who violate school or bus rules may
receive any combination of the following consequences: verbal or written
warnings, loss of points, days added to placement, suspensions, referral to
School Resource Officer or other consequences as deemed appropriate. Students
with referrals for serious misbehavior or excessive discipline violations may be
expelled to DCJJAEP.
Progress Reports: Behavior progress reports are issued to
students every Friday by the RAC teacher. These are behavior reports only.
Academic progress reports are issued by the home campus.
Dress Code: Students will follow the
Reassignment Center dress code.
Medications: Students who will need to take any medications - prescription or
over-the-counter - will need to have their parent/guardian fill out an
authorization form and have those medications with them. Prescriptions
(including asthma inhalers) must have the original label on them.
Over-the-counter must be in the original container.
Attendance
Students are expected to attend school each day. All students will ride
the bus to and from school each day. Students not arriving on the bus will
be considered tardy and must be signed in at the front office by the person
providing transportation. Tardies may result in loss of points, discipline
referrals and other consequences as deemed appropriate by the school principal.
It is the parent's or guardian's responsibility to call 972-600-4600 to
report a student's absence. In order for this absence to be excused, you
must also send a note upon his/her return to school.
Only students who are enrolled in a district vocational program and are
employed at the time of placement will be permitted to leave at 1 pm to go to
work. These students must show proof of employment, have parental
permission to leave and be in attendance a minimum of four hours. Arrangement of
transportation to work will be the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
Non-vocational work/early release passes will not be recognized.
Breakfast / Lunch
Breakfast will be provided by the District
at no cost for all enrolled students.
Students may bring a sack lunch with
one drink in a 12 oz. aluminum can (only one drink per day). Students should put
their name on their lunch sack. Gum, candy, food items
consisting of small pieces (such as peanuts or corn nuts), bottles or juice cartons
are not allowed. No outside lunches may be delivered to students after their
first day. Refrigerators are available in each room. If a student
forgets their lunch, they will be provided with a peanut butter sandwich upon
request (if request is made by student before 9 am).
Security
All students will pass through a metal detector upon arriving at
school in accordance with IISD Policy FNF-L. Only lunches, wallets and
house keys which have been inspected will be allowed to be carried into school.
Cosmetics and ink-based writing instruments of any kind will not be allowed in
and will be confiscated. No pagers or cell phones are allowed. If a
pager or cell phone is confiscated, a $15 fine will be charged and must be paid
before property will be returned.
Students are not to be on any other school property while
enrolled at the Reassignment Center and may not participate in any school
related functions anywhere.
