1. What can be put in the bin?
Newspapers, magazines, shopping catalogs,
office paper, school paper, flatten cardboard and mail. In addition,
your school can build a community based fundraiser and earn fund from
parent and community contributions of paper!
2. What about recycling plastic
bottles and cans from inside our school?
These will be collected in the new pilot
program by custodians only. They will be clear bagged and placed in
the Paper Retriever bin.
3. Are inside containers provided?
Yes, Internal containers will be provided
by City of Irving.
4. What is the payment for paper?
Each month you will receive:

5. What is the payment for Aluminum
cans?
Aluminum cans will be paid at $.20 per
pound or $4,000.00 per ton. There is no minimum for aluminum for
payment.
6. When is payment?
Monthly -- Statements/checks usually arrive
around the 15th of the following month. At teach school the
statement will be addressed to the school's principal.
7. How often are the bins emptied?
Some schools are serviced every other week,
others are services weekly. This is determined by the school's
weight history. Should you fill up prior to your next scheduled
pickup, your coordinator can call metro 817-792-4055 ext. 0.
8. How is the weight of the
materials collected determined?
Both paper and aluminum is weighted on-site
by scales on our truck. Each school's weight will be individually
recorded.
10. What is the size of the bin?
Our green and yell Paper Retriever is a 7
cubic yard bin and has dimensions of approximately 6x6x6. The blue
and yellow Aluminum Retriever bin is slightly taller.
11. What will be the source of
aluminum cans for the Aluminum Retriever program?
This program is designed to be a
community-based fundraiser. Parents, students and community will be
asked to contribute.
12. Can the aluminum cans inside the
school go into the Aluminum Retriever bin?
Yes, if your School Coordinator facilitates
it, this will not be the responsibility of the custodians.
