Write A Success Story
Write your own story about your
efforts in recycling and how successful they were with paper and
aluminum recycling and what you did to get other people involved.
When you are done send your story to
Cheri_Reynolds@abitibiconsolidated.com or mail it to Dallas
Crawford, 2350 North Belt East, Suite 600, Houston, TX 77032.
It might be printed in the RETRIEVER newsletter.
Create a PSA about Recycling
Find some friends and write a 60
second public service announcement (PSA) emphasizing the benefits of
recycling by the community. Present your PSA to your class,
perform it live on the campus video system, or record it into a
digital format which can be submitted to the Technology Media Fair
and the local TV station.
Create a Collage
Using old magazines, cut out pictures
of things that could create waste or trash when they are no longer
needed. Create a collage using a long piece of butcher paper.
You can divide your group into different rooms of the house and each
team can look for pictures of waste that could originate in that
particular room.
How much waste or trash do you
produce each day in the classroom? Begin to think about all of
the paper you could and could not recycle.
Create a Campus Clean-up Crew
1. Draw a map of your campus
identifying the litter prone areas
2. Create a campus clean-up
crew to make sure areas stay litter-free
3. Put any clean, dry
recyclable paper you find in your recycle bin
Write a letter to Abitibi Recycling
about your experiences. Discuss how community members
participate in recycling. Include information about your
organizations' efforts in the Abitibi Recycling paper Retriever
program. Be sure to point out the benefits of recycling to the
environment and your organization.
