Letter to Parents/Legal Guardians
Dear Parents/Legal Guardians:
Public school districts have immunity from
payment of medical expenses for bodily injury to students and the public
(except for limited liability as the result of negligent operation, and
during the operation of a motorized vehicle) as provided in the Texas
Tort Claims Act §101.021 and §101.051.
Therefore, the District provides an
opportunity for you to purchase student accident insurance at a low
cost. Participation in this insurance program is strictly voluntary.
Enrollment is possible online through a direct link:
Student Insurance Website:
www.k12studentinsurance.com
Otherwise, if that option is not
available to you then you can obtain an enrollment form in person (it
will not be mailed to you) at the main office of your student’s
campus.
HOWEVER, it is the responsibility of the
parent or guardian to complete the enrollment and premium payment
directly with the insurance company. Irving ISD will not collect
forms and payments for this coverage.
The following types of coverage for PK-12
are available. Specific details about the coverages and their
exclusions can be read on-line or on the enrollment brochure. The
Premier Plan pays a richer benefit as the only difference between the
two plan choices.
