        *  Stage 3 School Improvement (See de Zavala Middle School's SES Program)

TEA annually rates Texas public school districts and individual schools and the awards the following ratings:  Exemplary, Recognized, Academically Acceptable or Academically Unacceptable.

The ratings are based upon student performance in reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge & Skills tests, school completion data for the class that graduated (high school level) and dropout data (middle school level).  Within each subject, test scores are evaluated in the following categories:  all students, African-American, Hispanic, white and economically disadvantaged.
