Schulze was one of the founders of Irving Texas. He was
employed by the Chicago, Rock Island & Gulf Railway. He
arrived in Irving to survey a route between Fort Worth and Dallas.
He decided that this was a nice area for a town and bought 80 acres
from the Britain family in 1902.
In 1909, the Texas Legislature created the Irving Independent School
District. There were 190
students. In 1952, they named this school after J. O. Schulze. |
