A Comprehensive
Guidance and Counseling Program is an integral part of each Irving campus
and vital to the education of every student. The counselors provide a
proactive program to all students, PK - twelfth grade. Counselors conduct
classroom guidance presentation, individual and small group counseling,
individual planning, consultation and coordination with faculty,
administrators and parents, and interpretation of assessment results.
In order to provide
individual counseling, counselors may be asking for students from your
classroom from time to time. Please send the student at the time requested
unless the student is engaged in an important test or group activity.
Counselors will make every effort to limit instructional interruptions
whenever possible.
Administrators and
teachers are also an integral part of the effective guidance of students.
The needs of students can best be met through a cooperative team approach.
Teachers are encouraged to consult with counselors when reviewing a
student’s cumulative folder. The interpretation of student’s test data,
grades and course of study are vital information. Knowledge and accurate
use of this information will help the teacher better understand the needs of
all student and individual classroom instruction.
