GRADING SYSTEM
FOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
1. The Irving Independent School
District reports student progress by the use of report cards and
parent/teacher conferences.
2. Report cards are sent to
parents about two weeks following the end of the reporting period, unless
designated otherwise by the Superintendent of Schools (for the exact report
card schedule see the district website at
www.irvingisd.net/Calendars/ReportCardAndEligibility.htm.)
3. Each teacher is encouraged to
request and arrange for parent conferences as deemed necessary.
4. Unsatisfactory progress
reports are sent home midway of each six weeks reporting period.
5. Numerical averages are used in
grades 2-5 for reporting student progress in mathematics, language arts,
science, and social studies.
6. Letter grades are used in
grades 2-5 for reporting student progress in fine arts, health/safety,
physical education, and conduct.
7. Report cards will reflect the
instructional level of the student in mathematics, language arts, science,
and social studies.
8. Students who fail to maintain
progress at least up to minimum acceptable standards will receive a
numerical average less than 70.

of numerical averages and letter grades on the report card is as follows:
