The state of Texas
provides textbooks for most courses offered in our curriculum. These are
issued to the campuses from the district’s textbook warehouse. Contact
your campus’ textbook custodian for your textbook needs.
State Law, Article 2867A
RCA states that “All teachers shall keep a record of the numbers of all
books issued to each pupil. All books must be covered by the pupil under
the direction of the teacher.” Each campus has a textbook management
software program to facilitate this process. Teachers are expected to
assist the building textbook custodian in this task.
Our district also offers
some of the textbooks, especially secondary ones, online via the
textbook server. These may be accessed while on the Irving ISD network.
Some may be downloaded to your computer. Students are expected to return
their issued textbooks or pay for any lost textbooks.
Teachers are assigned
teacher’s editions and ancillary materials or given access to these
materials via online. These are property of Irving ISD and do not belong
to the individual teacher.
