THREATENING WEATHER

If at any time weather becomes threatening, especially with lightning, students (athletics, physical education, band, drill team, cheerleaders, JROTC) who are outside should be moved immediately inside until the weather clears.  Students should never be kept outside or allowed to remain outside when severe or turbulent weather is imminent.

REMEMBER:  IF YOU SEE LIGHTNING, no matter how far off, consider it threatening and move inside at once!

Emergency Warning Siren System

The emergency warning siren system will be sounded for the following reasons:

  1.  Testing:  A test of the sirens will be conducted on the first Wednesday of each month at 1:00 P.M.  A test will be one minute of a steady sound, one minute pause, another minute of a wavering sound and then a message over the siren public-address system stating that this concludes the test.

  2.  Public Address:  Whenever there is a tornado watch or severe weather bulletin issued by the U. S. Weather Service for Dallas County, an announcement will be made over the public-address system for those persons who are outdoors.

  3.  Alert:  A steady sound for three minutes means that there is an imminent hazard to life and property.  A person should take shelter immediately and listen to a radio or television set for further information.  DO NOT CALL POLICE OR FIRE FOR INFORMATION!

Tornado Watch:
Means weather conditions are such that a tornado could develop.

Tornado Warning:
A tornado has been sighted in the area.
