SCHOOLS
Students Entering
Irving Schools from Unaccredited Schools
A student enrolling in the District from
an unaccredited school shall be assigned by the principal to a grade level
on a temporary basis. Then, if necessary, standardized tests will be
administered locally for use in subsequent reassignment.
The following
tests will be given to determine placement:

ELEMENTARY
Woodcock-Johnson
Psycho-Educational Battery, Part II, or the Woodcock, McGraw & Werder
Mini-Battery of Achievement

MIDDLE SCHOOL
Wide
Range Achievement Test, Level II

HIGH SCHOOL
Wide
Range Achievement Test, Level II
It may also be necessary at the middle
school and high school levels to utilize criterion-referenced tests for
academic placement in certain courses. It is recommended that the
criterion-referenced tests be administered by the department chairperson or
the appropriate curriculum consultant.
The test material for Woodcock-Johnson
Psycho-Educational Battery, Part II can be obtained from the special
education personnel in each building.
NOTE:
If original instructional placement exceeds that indicated by the
achievement test results, the pupil should be placed in accordance with the
test score.
