UNACCREDITED SCHOOLS

Students Entering Irving Schools from Unaccredited Schools

A student enrolling in the District from an unaccredited school shall be assigned by the principal to a grade level on a temporary basis.  Then, if necessary, standardized tests will be administered locally for use in subsequent reassignment.

The following tests will be given to determine placement:

  1. ELEMENTARY
Woodcock-Johnson Psycho-Educational Battery, Part II, or the Woodcock, McGraw & Werder Mini-Battery of Achievement

  2. MIDDLE SCHOOL
    Wide
    Range Achievement Test, Level II

  3. HIGH SCHOOL
    Wide
    Range Achievement Test, Level II

It may also be necessary at the middle school and high school levels to utilize criterion-referenced tests for academic placement in certain courses.  It is recommended that the criterion-referenced tests be administered by the department chairperson or the appropriate curriculum consultant.

The test material for Woodcock-Johnson Psycho-Educational Battery, Part II can be obtained from the special education personnel in each building.

NOTE:   If original instructional placement exceeds that indicated by the achievement test results, the pupil should be placed in accordance with the test score.
