Irving Retired School
Personnel Association
The
Irving Retired School Personnel Association contributes
many volunteer hours to the school district and to the
community. Examples of these hours include: school
tutor, classroom helper, organizations, civic volunteer,
senior citizen centers, church, nursing home, committee
work, hospital volunteer, adult literacy, jury duty,
museum docent, airport ambassador, and caregiver for
older adults or children. In addition to the
individual volunteer hours, IRSPA has several altruistic
projects each year. |

Texas Retired Teachers
Association
Founded
in 1953, TRTA is the largest association for retired
public school and higher education employees and now
ranks No. 1 in membership in the nation. TRTA has more
than 58,000 members who continue to be involved in local
public school education and in the well-being of their
communities. From 1990-2003 TRTA members contributed
68,699,143 hours of volunteer service to their schools
and communities at a total value of $923,874,273.
In addition, the TRTA Children's Book Project, which
began in 1998-99, has involved TRTA local unit members
in giving books to children who might not otherwise have
books of their own. |
