10 Steps to Success in Middle School

Lifelong success depends in part on self-discipline.  These rules and guidelines will help to guide every student in making good decisions about his or her behavior in class and give each student an opportunity to be part of positive experiences in the class room.  Your child deserves the most positive educational climate for his or her growth.  Together, we can make a difference in this process.  We invite parents and students to join in this team effort.

1.     Be respectful to self, others, and property.

2.     Think before you speak.

3.     Do not throw things in class or hallways.

4.     Follow directions for each assignment – make an attempt to understand before asking a question.

5.     Inappropriate talking is not allowed – when the teacher is talking, you are not.

6.     Turn work in on time with a title and proper heading.

7.     Do not leave your seat without permission from the teacher.

8.     You will be dismissed by the teacher, not the bell.

9.     Be on time to class and in seat when the bell rings.

10.  Bring all supplies to class.

How to Keep a Binder Organized:

  1. Keep a divider labeled for each class

  2. Put all assignments, notes, and handouts behind each classes divider as soon as you recieve it!

  3. Keep all writing instruments neatly in a pencil pouch, bag or box.  Don't carry them arround in your pocket, too easy to loose or stab yourself

  4. Go thru and clean out and organize your binder EVERY NIGHT, so you know exactly where your homework is, so it is ready to turn in the next day

  5. Each week go through your binder to be sure out of date and unneeded items are removed and all other papers are neatly in the rings

  6. Resist the urge to stuff items in a pocket, or portfolio.  These do not keep you organized!
