My kids have 40 to 55
IQs. Visuals really help them learn. I'm excited about learning to use
the big screen, the projector, the relevant web sites-anything and
everything technical and otherwise that will help my kids get what they
want, a decent job!

I like the idea of
using an internet site as a bell-ringer. I like the oops site and the pbs
site. I like the games and lesson plans that are on oops - especially for
sub assignments or for being creative.

I liked Mr. Singley's
talk about how Irving ISD has made technology a priority (as opposed to
building a state-of-the-art football stadium, etc. like other school
districts!). I am very happy for the students of IISD that they are being
given this opportunity.
-
I think it would be
very, very worthwhile to hold an assembly for the students and explain why
they have laptops and what they are expected to do with them (and not do
with them!), much like Mr. Ladewig's explanation to us.

Saving websites as archives so they can be accessed.
Utilizing the links to the different types of technology projects

The one thing I
learned that I can use in the classroom is...
I could use email/blackboard to communicate with my basketball players. I
can send things from the playbook, scouting reports, or even inspirational
thoughts for the day. It is also a good way for them to communicate with
me. It may be a sensitive situation regarding their personal life or
something concerning the team and maybe they don't want to be seen going
into the coaches office in a closed door setting.

The "oops" website
lists several virtual tours that students can go on. I

We can display digital
stills of the previous halftime performance on the big screen and have the
band students analyze areas of alignment that need improvement and how
that improvement can be achieved. The next marching rehearsal, they can
implement those improvements.

kids.
