Principal's Retreat at
Lonesome Dove
All school principals, grades pre-k through high school, attended a
one day retreat at the Lonesome Dove Ranch in Grapevine, Texas.
While away from pressures of their staff and buildings, principal's
learned about new legislations, rules, and procedures for the coming
school year.
The C&I Plan of Action for 2003 was a
major topic, along with a review of TAKS (the restructured TASS
test). Cluster meetings were held to review how campuses compared
to the state indicators. The day end with an overview of Steven
Covey's materials.
The day included team building activities to help the new incoming
staff become familiar with the existing staff in Irving.
During designated breaks in the day, teams and campuses where
encouraged to take part of the "photo sessions" offered by the
Department of Instructional Technology. Who photographed the teams
and printed photos for groups using the local western backdrop. |
