Ankle Rehabilitation

Exercises

These exercises are part of a general rehabilitation program for simple ankle injuries.

Flexibility-

Emphasis- Regain full extension and flexion of the ankle.

Slant Board-  Video

Range of Motion

Emphasis- Regain full range of motion of the ankle and reduce swelling.

Ankle Pumps- Video

ABC's-- Draw your alphabet- Video 

Resistive Ankle ROM-

Emphasis- Develop strength while using elastic tubing/band such as Theraband™ as resistance.

Dorsiflexion- Video       Plantar Flexion- Video 

Inversion- Video           Eversion- Video 

Nonweightbearing Exercises

Emphasis- Develop coordination and strength while non-weightbearing.

Towel Crunches- Video 

Marble Pickup- Video 

Weightbearing Exercises-

Emphasis- Develop strength using athlete's weight as resistance.

Heel Raises- Video 

Step Ups- Forward- Video

Balance Exercises

Emphasis- Developing coordination and proprioception.

The athlete will begin standard running, coordination, and agility exercises if able to perform the above exercises.
