Lively Elementary
Lively
is currently in the second year of the TIP Grant which provides each K-3
student an AlphaSmart and each 4-5 grade student a laptop.
Lively's school
wide technology activity this year has been Project Hurricane Katrina:
"The Winds of Change". The emphasis of the project was to integrate real
world issues with higher order thinking skills and technology. Lively's
students and staff integrated technology, curriculum instruction, and
social responsibility as they studied the impact of Hurricane Katrina.
The culmination of
the project was a two day walking museum when the students displayed and
shared their projects with parents, district personnel, and fellow
students. The students also took part in a interactive video conference
with N.O.A.A .to learn more about hurricanes. To emphasize a community
social responsibility a school wide canned food drive was held. The
canned food was collected for Irving Cares, a local city charity. 2831
cans of food were collected by Lively's students.
