Science Kit Study
of Caterpillars

MacDougall's class studied
caterpillars as they made their chrysalides.

Animal Research,
Mrs. Scrabeck's Class
Mrs. Scrabeck's 3rd grade students
used the laptop cart to research and present information about
animals and their fantasy counterparts.

GT Showcase, Mrs.
Hurt's Class
Mrs. Hurt's 4th grade students
participated in the GT Showcase sponsored by IAGT. Students
displayed plant and animal cell models they made following their science
studies. At the Showcase, students' PowerPoints from their Texas
Animal Research Project were available for viewing. Several
students were available to answer questions about their display.

Mrs. Hoffman's 5th
Grade Music Class
Students integrated science and music.
They had to solve the problem, “how do I make my jars match the pitch of
the individual tone bars”. They had to form and test their hypothesis
and then they had to analyze their data and make a conclusion. Finally,
they had to play “Mary Had a Little Lamb” with the jars filled with
water.

Mrs. Scrabeck's 3rd Graders
Students have been studying about
simple machines in their science kits. In this activity, they were
learning about the pulley and determining how much force (with the
addition of weights) will be needed to move the box.

Graders
Students used the laptops to
conduct research and produce a report on an author of their choice.

Mrs. Hyde's 5th Graders
Students are observing several solutions to determine which is the most
concentrated. After observing, they will design an experiment that will
prove which solution is most concentrated.
Students are using laptops to gather
information about the causes of the American Revolution. They will use
the information to write and develop skits to perform for the class.

Art Contest Winner
Students had to create an original artwork representing people who have
disabilities. They could use watercolor, pencil, crayon, and/or all
three. The artwork could not be smaller than 8x10. It was judged by
the Irving Advisory Committee on Disabilities. This student did a
drawing of a boy with a disability. He was presented with his award by
Mayor Gears. Congratulations!!
