Reading--Election Issues Venn Diagram
1. Go to
this site and read
the positions of both candidates on the issues.
2. Go to
this site and create a digital Venn diagram
representing the candidates' stand on the issues
A. To create the diagram, fill in the
blanks
1. Project title: Presidential
Election Issues
2. By: (Your Name)
3. Label circle 1: McCain
4. Label circle 2: Obama--then begin to add issues
B. Then begin to add issues
1. If both men agree:
a. Type the name
of the issue. (EX: Sixth grade recess.)
b. Give a description of how they agree.
(Example: Both want to make school
recess mandatory for grade six.)
c. Then drag the orange box below the title of the issue to
the center of
the Venn diagram. It goes in the center because they
agree.
2. If they have different
ideas, you need to make two boxes.
a. First
type the name of the issue. (EX: Sixth grade recess.)
b. Put the initials of the candidate
(JM for John McCain and BO for Barak Obama.) in the
description box
c. Type the opinion that matches the candidate.
d. Last, drag the orange box to the part of the Venn diagram
that matches
the candidate.
(Ex: JM wants all sixth
graders to have recess unless they are failing their classes.)
(Ex: BO wants all sixth graders to have recess unless they have been
absent during the week.)
C. Save to your H drive
1. Click "finish" in the upper right corner.
2. Click "print" n the upper right corner.
3. Click "print" at the bottom of the box.
4. Choose Microsoft Office Document Image Writer--then your document
appears.
VERY IMPORTANT----->
5. Name your document with each of your initials and the words Venn Election
(Ex: AJ LM DR Venn Election)
VERY IMPORTANT---->
6. Choose your H drive as "Save in" place at the top of the screen
where you save
7. Click "Save." You are done! :-)
