Credit Program

Alternative High School

The Credit Program is Irving Independent School District’s alternative high school program.

Requirements

  1. Must have taken and passed all exit level tests OR be an exit level RETESTER.
  2. Must have earned at least sixteen (16) credits.
  3. Must be able to earn the remaining ten (10) credits using the A+ Learning Lab or the EPIC Early College system.
  4. Students needing five (5) or fewer credits must attend a minimum of four (4) hours per day.  (8:15 AM – 12:15 PM or 12:15 PM – 4:15 PM)
  5. Students needing six (6) or more credits must attend seven (7) hours daily.  (8:15 AM – 3:45 PM)

General Information

  • Sending campus will be responsible for completing and verifying applications.

  • Application and entry times for the CREDIT Program are:  August, November, April and May annually.

  • Students may attend UBCL on a referral only basis.  They are not a direct enrollment campus.  All students (even those new to IISD) wishing to attend UBCL must be referred from their home high school.  Current UBCL students get first priority.

  • Enrollment will be on a space available basis based on date and time of application.  Students who are not able to attend UBCL due to the school reaching enrollment capacity will be placed on a waiting list.

  • Students will apply to attend the UBCL Houses annually in the spring of the year preceding their desired enrollment.  Application for the houses will occur in late April and early May. 

  • Students wishing to enter the UBCL summer program will apply in late April and early May as well.

  • Enrollment other than the times prescribed for the Houses program and the CREDIT Program will require the written approval of the Director of Academic and Career Guidance and the Division Director of Secondary Teaching and Learning.
