Thanksgiving Feast

Our reenactment of the first Thanksgiving will be on Friday at 1:30. We will be eating in the cafeteria at this time, if you can come help us SERVE we would love to have you. We need helpers to be here at 12:30 to get things together and fix the plates and tables.  Please let your child’s teacher know if you can help us out. All food needs to be here at school by 12:30.  If you are making mashed potatoes, please make enough for 10 people.

The Pinecone Turkey

by: Mabel Maurine Henderson

Once a little pinecone turkey,

With feathers stiff and hard,

Wished that he could gobble loudly

Like turkeys in the yard.

They gobbled high, the gobbled low,

They gobbled with a trill;

And the little pinecone turkey

Could only keep quite still.

But when he stood on the table

On last Thanksgiving Day,

And saw a big brown turkey there

His heart was light and gay.

His heart sang high, his heart sang low

His heart sang with a trill;

And the little pinecone turkey

Was glad he’d kept quite still!

Report cards will be sent home on Thursday. Please remember to send back report card envelopes and slips on Friday!

In December, every first grader will be making a gingerbread house.  The students always have so much fun being creative as they decorate their houses, and they love seeing all of the houses on display in the hall. It is a great first grade tradition and makes such wonderful memories.  .  Notes will be sent home with more details tomorrow.  I will be purchasing all supplies over the break.
