Job Descriptions

Job Functions in Multimedia & Animation

This topic underscores the ‘team’ concept usually employed in the professional production of multimedia.

         Students should understand that real-world employees in multimedia and related         areas rarely perform all the tasks required. Jobs are assigned by areas of expertise and qualifications. However, it is important to know the job functions and responsibilities of each job title in order to be a productive member of the team. Members must interact with each other and understand each other’s functions and limitations.

Ø      Client a person or company that commissions a multimedia product.

Ø      Production House an individual or group that designs multimedia products.

Ø      Publisher a group that sponsors and distributes the product.

Ø      Business Consultant - deals with finances, accounting, inventory’ systems. budgets, cash flow. taxes, and sales.

Ø      Legal Professional - handles intellectual property, licensing, contract issues. copyrights, royalties, payment terms, and contract clauses.

Ø      Executive Producer - deals with the business side of an organization.

Ø      Project Manager - has ultimate responsibility for the coordination of all aspects of the project.

Ø    Creative Director - responsible for consistent design standards and styles.

Ø      Marketing Manager - identifies possible markets. sales, and distribution strategies.

Ø      Content experts - researches and provides original. recycled, licensed, or public domain information and validates sources.
